How do I find the page for a list?

If you don't know the name of the list, simply go to http://mailbox.gsu.edu/mailman/listinfo for a list of all the public lists on the server. If a list manager has elected to keep his list private, you won't see it in the list.

How do I subscribe to a list?

Go to the list info page, and there is a simple form that will subscribe you. Simply enter your email address, your password and select digest or non-digest delivery. Click on the "Subscribe" button and you will be emailed with a confirmation to verify your email address.

NOTE: Don't use the password you use for email, logins or any other systems. Mailman will email you your password as a reminder every month. It won't be encrypted and anyone who can see your email will be able to see it.


How do I unsubscribe from a list?

Go to the info page for the list you want to unsubscribe from. Under the "Unix Subscribers" heading, enter your email address. You will be taken to your personal options page for that list. The "Unsubscribe" setting should be at the top of the page. Simply enter your password and click on the "Unsubscribe" button.


What's the difference between digest and non-digest mail?

Non-digest means that you get sent each email as it is sent to the list.

Digest mode means that all the emails sent to the list get combined into one big email that gets sent to you at the end of the day.


Help! I lost my password!

Go to the list info page for the list. Under the "Subscribers" section look for a button that says "Visit subscriber list" and click on it.

NOTE: Some list administrators choose to keep their member list private to protect privacy. This button may not be there. If this is the case you need to email the list admin for help.

Find your email address and click on it to be taken to your personal page. There is a button on this page to email your password to you.


Is there an archive of posts to a list?

Possibly. The list administrator can control if a list is archived or not, and who can access the archives. If there are public archives of a list there will be a link to them at the top of the list info page.


Can I do any of this stuff through email instead of a web browser?

Sure! For a list of commands and so on, send an email to listname-request@mailbox.gsu.edu with the word help as the subject and/or the body of the mail. So if your list is called "gsulaw" you would send an email to gsulaw-request@mailbox.gsu.edu with "help" as the subject.


How do I contact the list administrator?

Send an email to listname-admin@mailbox.gsu.edu. So if your list is called "gsulaw" you would send an email to gsulaw-admin@mailbox.gsu.edu.
